Water supply will be disrupted across many parts of Bengaluru today after a major leak was detected in the Cauvery Stage-5 transmission line, prompting emergency repair works by the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB).
Residents of Bengaluru have been advised to take note as Cauvery water supply is disrupted in several areas of the city today, following a technical failure in a key transmission line.
According to information released by the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), a water leak has been detected in the Cauvery Stage-5 project, leading to interruptions in water distribution. The issue has been traced to a 3,000 mm diameter transmission pipeline, where damage to the screw valve has caused significant leakage.
In response, BWSSB has taken up urgent repair and maintenance work to arrest the leak and prevent further water loss. Due to these emergency works, water supply will be affected from 7 am to 10 pm today in multiple localities across the city.
BWSSB officials have clarified that the disruption is unavoidable as the repairs are essential to restore normal supply and ensure long-term stability of the Cauvery water network.
