Police confirm single bullet fired at point-blank range using a licensed .25 NP Bore pistol; FSL examination underway to establish technical findings
The investigation into the death of renowned businessman Dr. C.J. Roy has intensified, with police revealing crucial forensic and technical details following a thorough examination of the scene and initial inquiry.
According to preliminary investigation findings, Dr. Roy fired a single bullet directly into the left side of his chest using his right hand. Investigators say the pistol was placed extremely close to the body, indicating a point-blank discharge.
The impact of the gunshot was severe. The bullet entered through the left chest region, travelled straight through the body, and reached the back, where it was found lodged. Officials confirmed that there was no scattering of muscle tissue at the entry point, suggesting that the bullet penetrated deeply and directly into the body due to the force and proximity of the shot.

During the spot inspection, police confirmed that only one round was fired, ruling out multiple shots. No additional discharge marks or spent cartridges were found at the location.
Investigators also confirmed that Dr. Roy used a licensed NP Bore 0.25 pistol. The weapon, which was legally owned, has been seized by the police as part of the investigation. A detailed inspection of the scene has already been completed.
To establish further technical clarity, the seized pistol has been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for advanced examination. Officials stated that the FSL report will play a key role in confirming ballistic details and other scientific aspects related to the death.
Police sources said the investigation is progressing on multiple technical fronts, and more clarity is expected once forensic reports are received.
