The state government has finalized land parcels ranging from two to five acres for the proposed buildings, which will be developed in a uniform traditional style. Architectural designs are being sourced through a public contest, with a cash prize for the winning entry.

Competition launched to design logos for the GBA

In parallel, a competition has been launched to design logos for the GBA and each corporation, all of which will carry the Bengaluru identity in their names. The state has clarified that inter-corporation tax reallocations will not be permitted, assuring financial independence in line with constitutional provisions. Deficit management, if required, will be supported through state funding.

The newly appointed commissioners for each corporation have assumed office and opened separate bank accounts, enabling fresh tax remittances under the revised structure. Issuance of khatas by the corporations is expected to begin shortly, though initial procedural delays are anticipated.

While no new areas will immediately be brought under the GBA or corporations, potential future expansion has been highlighted. Urban growth zones from the airport to Magadi Road and Tumakuru Road to Hosur Road may be considered later. Each corporation will be capped at 150 wards, with ward populations projected to grow from 20,000 to as high as 40,000 in the coming years.
