With no buses available due to the BMTC strike, a man returning from Dubai was forced to spend Rs 12,000 on a taxi to reach his hometown Mangaluru.

The ongoing transport strike in Karnataka is forcing commuters to make desperate choices, like shelling out thousands of rupees just to reach home. One such case has come to light where a man who returned from Dubai had to pay Rs 12,000 to hire a taxi from Bengaluru to Mangaluru, as there were no KSRTC buses available.

After landing in Bengaluru, the man managed to take a BMTC airport shuttle to Majestic. But to his shock, he found no buses heading to his hometown. With no clarity on when or whether night buses would operate and only three days of leave, he had no choice but to book a private taxi at a premium price.
