While prisoners serving life sentences are required to take up some form of labour, assignments are made based on education and interest. Revanna, a mechanical engineering graduate from Chikkamagaluru, had earlier expressed willingness to engage in farming and administrative work. However, authorities ultimately placed him in the library role.

Revanna was sentenced to life imprisonment in one rape case by a special court for public representatives. He still faces trial in three more cases and has appealed to the High Court challenging the conviction.

Once a political figure who provided employment opportunities to many, Revanna now finds himself earning daily wages as a prison worker. His downfall marks a stark contrast to his past five years as an elected MP from Hassan, a position he could have held longer had it not been for the criminal charges.
