Joint inspections by Central and South City Corporations under the Greater Bengaluru Authority lead to strict action against non-compliant paying guest accommodations.
The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has intensified its enforcement drive against unauthorised and unsafe paying guest (PG) accommodations across the city. As part of the ongoing action, officials from the Bengaluru Central City Corporation and Bengaluru South City Corporation conducted large-scale inspections and sealed multiple PGs found violating basic safety and hygiene norms.
In the Bengaluru South City Corporation limits, authorities sealed 10 PG accommodations after finding serious violations related to cleanliness, safety and regulatory compliance. The action was taken following repeated lapses in maintaining prescribed standards.
The inspection drive covered 66 PGs located in Jayanagar, Bengaluru South, BTM Layout and Bommanahalli Assembly constituencies. During the checks, officials identified several establishments that had breached operational rules and safety guidelines.
As part of the enforcement action, authorities also collected a total fine of ₹22,500 from PGs that were found violating regulations. Officials clarified that the measures were taken to ensure the safety and well-being of residents, especially students and working professionals staying in PG accommodations.
The inspections were conducted based on clearly defined guidelines. These included availability of clean drinking water, hygienic cooking areas, general cleanliness, properly maintained toilets, fire safety measures, CCTV surveillance, and strict adherence to FSSAI food safety guidelines. PGs that failed to meet these requirements faced immediate action.
