The Greater Bengaluru Authority rolls out a strict enforcement drive against unauthorised constructions by forming dedicated task forces in all five city corporations.
Bengaluru residents who have constructed buildings without proper approvals have been put on alert. The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has initiated a major enforcement plan to act against unauthorised buildings across the city, signalling one of the most extensive crackdowns in recent times.
As part of this initiative, GBA has decided to form separate task forces in all five city corporations. These task force teams will exclusively focus on identifying, monitoring, and taking action against buildings constructed in violation of approved norms. The move aims to bring stricter oversight and ensure compliance with building regulations.
According to the plan, task force teams will carry out door-to-door inspections in residential and commercial areas. Officials will physically visit buildings suspected to be unauthorised and conduct detailed verification on-site. The inspections will not be limited to visual checks alone, as teams will thoroughly examine building-related documents.
During the visits, officials will verify approved building plans, permissions granted by the authorities, and other mandatory records linked to construction. If any structure is found to be built without approval or in deviation from the sanctioned plan, the building owner will be issued a notice immediately.
The task forces have also been authorised to initiate further action based on the severity of violations. This includes preparing reports for legal proceedings and recommending demolition or penalties wherever required, as per existing laws.
The GBA Commissioner has directed all city corporations to implement this plan without delay. Each corporation has been instructed to constitute its own task force team to ensure uniform enforcement across Bengaluru. The objective is to curb illegal constructions that strain civic infrastructure and violate urban planning rules.
With this development, GBA has made it clear that unauthorised buildings will no longer be ignored. Property owners are advised to ensure all construction approvals and documents are in place to avoid strict action in the coming days.
