Two-day Town Hall event to connect citizen ideas with funding and implementation partners under ‘Bayasidante Bayalu’ initiative
The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) is set to host a two-day Open House aimed at accelerating the transformation of underused public spaces across the city. Scheduled for February 6 and 7, the event will take place at the Town Hall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on both days.
The Open House is part of “Bayasidante Bayalu”, a city-level initiative launched in May 2025 to revive neglected public spaces and reimagine Bengaluru’s streets beyond their role as mere transport corridors. The programme focuses on creating inclusive, people-friendly public spaces that serve community needs.
Under the initiative, citizens across Bengaluru were invited to identify and nominate neglected or underutilised public spaces in their neighbourhoods for redevelopment. The response from residents was extensive, with over 250 nominations submitted from various parts of the city.

Following preliminary assessments, 194 locations were found to be feasible for improvement. These sites have now been added to a city-level public repository, which will be presented during the Open House. The aim of the event is to encourage adoption and funding of these projects by Bengaluru’s five city corporations as well as external partners.
Data compiled by the GBA shows a wide distribution of identified sites across the city. The South City Corporation accounts for the highest number with 50 locations, followed closely by the North City Corporation with 49 sites. The Central City Corporation has 43 locations, while the West City Corporation accounts for 31 sites. The East City Corporation has 21 identified public spaces.
The Open House will serve as a platform to bring together citizen ideas, civic bodies, and potential collaborators to ensure these public space projects move from planning to on-ground execution.
