Election officials directed to update ward maps, form special election cells, and deploy nodal officers for data accuracy ahead of upcoming municipal elections.
With elections to five city corporations scheduled in the coming months, the Karnataka government has initiated a comprehensive preparation drive to ensure accurate and transparent voter lists. Senior officials have directed strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the verification and updating of electoral rolls.
GBA Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao has issued detailed instructions to all concerned officers, emphasizing the need for precision, transparency, and accountability in preparing voter lists. He directed that SOP guidelines must be followed rigorously to avoid errors, duplication, or omissions.
As part of the process, the Information Technology (IT) Department has been instructed to update ward and boundary maps in line with the latest government notifications. This move is aimed at ensuring that voter data is accurately aligned with newly demarcated municipal limits.

Additionally, orders have been issued to establish a dedicated election division in each of the five city corporations. These divisions will coordinate election-related tasks, including voter list verification, data monitoring, and grievance redressal.
To address data-related challenges, nodal officers have been appointed in every corporation. Their role will include resolving technical issues, ensuring data accuracy, and facilitating smooth coordination between departments.
Special focus has been placed on the careful review of newly divided and reorganized wards. Officials have been instructed to conduct detailed scrutiny of split wards to prevent discrepancies in voter registration and polling station allocation.
