For four years, a leopard’s presence in Anjanapura has forced residents indoors after sunset, shut shops early, and halted auto and online food deliveries, turning daily life into a constant struggle.
Fear and anxiety have become a daily reality for residents of Anjanapura in Bengaluru, as repeated leopard sightings over the past four years have completely altered life in the locality. Once evening approaches, the area slips into silence, with people choosing to stay indoors and transport and delivery services avoiding the neighbourhood altogether.
Local residents say that a leopard has been frequently spotted in and around Anjanapura for nearly four years. Many have claimed to have seen the animal with their own eyes. Following these sightings, rumours and confirmed encounters spread rapidly, heightening fear among families.
Several auto drivers have reported close encounters with the leopard, forcing them to avoid entering the locality after dusk. Food delivery executives from Swiggy and Zomato also refuse to step into the area, citing safety concerns. In some cases, even after accepting orders, delivery personnel cancel them once they see the Anjanapura address.

A delivery executive who had a terrifying experience last year said he narrowly escaped after spotting the leopard while on duty. Since then, many delivery agents have stopped serving the area completely. As a result, online food delivery services have almost come to a halt in the locality.
By 6 pm, shops begin shutting down, roads turn deserted, and residents lock their doors. People avoid stepping out alone and prefer to move only in groups. Locals say even for basic necessities, they are forced to travel by car, as walking or using two-wheelers at night is considered risky.
Auto drivers also avoid Anjanapura after evening hours, making commuting extremely difficult. Residents complain that after 4 pm, it becomes nearly impossible to get an auto or cab. With no transport or delivery services, daily life has become a challenge.
The persistent leopard threat has created a constant sense of fear, leaving Anjanapura residents demanding immediate intervention to ensure safety and restore normal life.
