  • Patients forced to jump dividers to cross road
  • Daily accidents reported near Jayadeva Hospital
  • Strong demand for immediate skywalk construction

Patients and commuters struggle to cross the busy Jayadeva Hospital road, forced to jump over dividers due to the absence of a skywalk, leading to daily accidents and growing safety concerns.

Crossing the road in front of Bengaluru’s Jayadeva Hospital has turned into a daily ordeal for patients, caregivers, and commuters, with the absence of a proper pedestrian crossing forcing people to risk their lives by jumping over the central divider.

Located on the busy stretch connecting Jayanagar and Silk Board, the road witnesses heavy traffic throughout the day. The presence of a bus stop on one side, a Metro station on another, and the prestigious Jayadeva Hospital right across makes pedestrian movement extremely high. However, due to the lack of a skywalk or safe crossing facility, people are left with no option but to perform risky high jumps and long jumps over the divider.

Patients arriving for treatment, many of them weak, elderly, or injured, are seen struggling mid-road, often stopping due to exhaustion. Several commuters report that at least one accident occurs almost every day at this spot. Many have suffered serious injuries, including broken hands and legs, after falling while attempting to cross.

The divider in front of the hospital has become a major hazard, with patients and their attendants forced to climb and jump over it just to reach the hospital entrance. With no skywalk in place, the situation turns even more dangerous during peak traffic hours.

Local residents and daily commuters say the problem has persisted for years, despite repeated appeals to authorities. Patients and locals are now demanding immediate construction of a skywalk or a proper pedestrian crossing system to ensure safety.

They have urged civic and transport authorities to act without delay, warning that further inaction could lead to more serious accidents and loss of life. The demand for a safe crossing facility has grown louder, with people calling for urgent infrastructure intervention.
