  • Huskur Halt completes construction and awaits final approvals
  • Station positioned closer to Electronic City than Heelalige
  • Part of major suburban rail expansion linking 17 stations

The new halt station, positioned close to Electronic City, is set to strengthen suburban rail access and cut travel time for thousands of tech workers.

East Bengaluru is preparing for an important addition to its transportation network as the Huskur Halt Station edges closer to opening for public use. A recent inspection carried out by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) has moved the long-awaited project into its final approval phase. With Electronic City and nearby tech hubs facing limited rail connectivity for years, the new halt station is expected to give faster and more dependable access to thousands of daily commuters.

The newly developed Huskur Halt, built by K-RIDE, has completed all construction and is now undergoing the required statutory checks before services begin. The location has been chosen with commuters in mind, just 5 km from Electronic City, significantly closer than the Heelalige Station, which is about 10 km away. This will make daily travel easier for employees working in Electronic City as well as those commuting from Bommasandra and Veerasandra industrial belts.

As part of the broader effort to improve movement in the region, a new four-line crossing station at Hunnur has also been created to handle freight operations more efficiently and strengthen rail links to Tamil Nadu and Kerala. In addition, the CRS inspection included a review of the Carmelaram-Bellandur track-doubling section, where trial runs recorded train speeds above 120 kmph, clearing the way for regular services to begin soon.

Huskur Halt is a critical element of the fourth corridor under the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project, stretching 35 km between Heelalige and Rajanukunte and integrating 17 stations. The halt’s proximity to the Yellow Line metro stations, Konappana Agrahara and Huskur Road, will make it easier for passengers to switch between metro and rail, offering improved multimodal connectivity for the city’s growing workforce.
