Airport Customs officials have seized 38.6 kg of high-grade hydroponic cannabis bought from Bangkok, detaining ten foreign nationals involved in the smuggling attempt.
Customs officials at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, have seized a major consignment of hydroponically grown cannabis, marking one of the largest airport drug interceptions this year. The operation, carried out on passengers arriving from Bangkok, resulted in the confiscation of 38.6 kilograms of hydroponic ganja valued at ₹14 crore 22 lakh.

According to officials, ten foreign nationals were intercepted after their luggage triggered suspicion during routine checks. When examined, their bags were found to contain neatly packed hydroponic cannabis, a high-potency variety cultivated using nutrient-rich water instead of soil.

The group is suspected to have attempted coordinated smuggling into the city, using passenger baggage as a cover.
All ten individuals have been detained for questioning. Customs authorities have booked a case under relevant sections of the Customs Act, and further investigation is in progress to determine the source, intended recipients, and possible links to international drug networks.
