Bengaluru’s newly inaugurated Yellow Line metro promises smoother travel to Electronics City, with Infosys encouraging employees to use the metro and special shuttle services to beat traffic jams.

Bengaluru took a significant step in urban transit with the inauguration of the Yellow Line of Namma Metro on August 11, 2025. Connecting RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra over a 19.15 km corridor with 16 stations, the new line promises to ease travel to the bustling IT hub of Electronics City. However, commuters will have to wait until March 2026 to experience the improved service frequency of a train every six minutes, as current operations run at a 25-minute interval due to staggered train deliveries and ongoing technician training.

Amid this, IT giant Infosys has actively encouraged its workforce to take advantage of the Yellow Line to reduce travel time and avoid Bengaluru’s notorious traffic jams. An internal communication from Infosys highlighted the convenience of alighting at the “Infosys Foundation–Konappana Agrahara” station, which is the closest to its Electronics City campus. To facilitate last-mile connectivity, ELCITA-managed shuttle buses will run between the station and various Infosys office locations, timed to sync with metro arrivals during peak hours.

The metro station also features a direct skywalk leading to the Infosys Metro Plaza, accessible after ID verification, making the commute seamless for employees. Fare options such as NCMC cards, tokens, and QR tickets are available, with a capped one-way fare of Rs 60. Infosys hopes that promoting metro usage will contribute to decongesting city roads, especially during rush hours, urging staff to adopt this traffic-free travel alternative.

The Yellow Line marks a major development in Bengaluru’s transit infrastructure, promising enhanced connectivity and convenience, with full operational frequency expected by early 2026.
