Karnataka: KSRTC to operate 1,500 special buses for Gowri Ganesha festival

To accommodate the surge in festive travel, 1,500 additional buses will be operated on August 25 and 26, supplementing the regular services.

The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has announced extensive travel arrangements for passengers during the Gowri and Ganesha festivals on August 26 and 27, 2025. To accommodate the surge in festive travel, 1,500 additional buses will be operated on August 25 and 26, supplementing the regular services.

Journey Destinations 

For return journeys, special buses will run from various intra-state and inter-state locations to Bengaluru on August 27 and again on August 31. The services are planned to link Bengaluru with key pilgrim and regional centres. From Kempegowda Bus Station, operations will cover destinations such as Dharmasthala, Kukke Subramanya, Shivamogga, Mangaluru, Hubballi, Dharwad, Belagavi, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Ballari, Vijayapura, Tirupati, Hyderabad, and Vijayawada.

From Mysuru Road Bus Station, additional trips will connect passengers to Mysuru, Virajpet, Madikeri and surrounding towns. Premium services from Shantinagar BMTC Bus Station will cater to travellers heading to Tamil Nadu and Kerala, including Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Ernakulam and Kozhikode.

KSRTC has enabled computerized advance ticket booking through its website and counters across Karnataka and neighbouring states. Passengers are advised to check boarding points mentioned on their tickets. Group discounts of five percent for four or more travellers under a single booking, along with ten percent concessions on return fares, are being offered.

To support interstate travellers, reservation counters have been established in major cities across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Puducherry, Maharashtra and Goa. Additional buses from taluk and district headquarters will also be deployed depending on demand during the festive season.
