A viral post has reignited public anger over Bengaluru’s battered roads, exposing the stark contrast between Koramangala’s global image as a startup hub and its crumbling civic reality.

Koramangala, long hailed as the cradle of billion-dollar start-ups, is now in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. A sarcastic social media post showing cratered roads in the upscale Bengaluru locality has sparked a flood of online reactions, with residents calling out civic neglect that has persisted for months.

The viral post joked that in Koramangala, “innovation” meant dodging potholes daily, a comment that quickly struck a chord with locals. Many residents pointed out how stretches have been dug up and left untarred for over half a year, while others mockingly suggested rolling out homemade roads each morning just to commute.

For an area that attracts investors, global talent, and tech entrepreneurs, residents say the ground reality paints a very different picture, broken stretches, dust clouds, and an apathetic civic system.

Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar himself admitted that Bengaluru’s infrastructure lags far behind its growth. Even his children, he said, regularly question him about the state of traffic. Judges of the High Court, too, have complained about wasting nearly an hour each day in gridlocks.

As Koramangala’s residents vent their anger, the irony remains hard to miss: a neighborhood that gave India its unicorns is now struggling with a very basic ask, roads that don’t resemble obstacle courses.
