    Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after laying the foundation stone for Bengaluru’s Namma Metro phase 3 project at IIIT in Bengaluru, opened his address in Kannada with a tribute to Karnataka’s rich culture, language, and love. PM Modi Highlights Bengaluru’s Role in India’s Growth, Calls for Building a Future-Ready City.

    Key hightlights of his address:

    1. PM Modi laid the foundation stone for Bengaluru’s Namma Metro Phase 3 project and began his address in Kannada, honoring Karnataka’s culture, language, and heritage.
    2. Paid tribute to Bengaluru’s deity Annamma and city founder Kempegowda, praising his enduring vision.
    3. Acknowledged Bengaluru’s talent and people as key to its global reputation, urging joint efforts for the city’s future.
    4.  Recalled his first Bengaluru visit since Operation Sindoor and highlighted the rapid neutralization of terror camps after the Pahalgam attack.
    5. Credited Bengaluru’s role in Make in India, especially in developing defence technologies.
    6. Thanked Infosys, Biocon, and others for contributions to the Yellow Line metro project; reaffirmed the “Reform, Perform, Transform” governance approach.
    7. Cited infrastructure achievements: India is now third in metro coverage; 40,000+ km of railways electrified; airports increased from 74 to 160; AIIMS from 7 to 22; medical colleges from 387 to 704.
    8. Reported 4 crore houses built under government schemes, with 3,000 more to be distributed soon; exports rose from $468B (2014) to $824B.
    9. Stressed the Viksit Bharat vision, empowerment of the poor, and bridging gaps through technology; promoted indigenous tech for Atmanirbhar Bharat.
    10. Assured continued cooperation between state and central governments for people’s prosperity beyond political divisions.

    Ashwini Vaishnav and Karnataka CM address

    Ashwini in his address highlighted that Karnataka used to receive only Rs 835 crores in railway budgets before 2014, but after Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister, Karnataka has been receiving over Rs 7,500 crore for the development of its railways. 

    While Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah highlighted the metro project is a joint venture between the state and central governments and both contribute equally to its development. He also mentioned that it was in 2005 when the metro project began during Dr Manmohansingh’s tenure as PM.
