Lured by ‘Cheap Gold’ offer, Andhra man robbed of ₹20 lakh in Devanahalli

An Andhra Pradesh man was robbed of ₹20 lakh in Devanahalli after being lured with a promise of 4 kg gold at below market price. Six accused allegedly assaulted him and escaped with cash.

Six-member gang allegedly assaulted the victim at a private layout near Venkatagirykote in Devanahalli taluk and fled with cash; police form special team to trace accused.

A shocking robbery has been reported from Devanahalli in Bengaluru Rural district, where an Andhra Pradesh resident was allegedly assaulted and robbed of ₹20 lakh after being lured with a fake promise of cheap gold.

The victim has been identified as Vishwaprasad Reddy from Andhra Pradesh. According to the complaint, a group of unknown persons contacted him over the phone claiming they had 4 kilograms of gold for sale at a price lower than the market rate. As part of their plan, they allegedly asked him to first pay ₹20 lakh for 1 kilogram of gold.

Believing the offer, Vishwaprasad Reddy travelled from Andhra Pradesh to Bengaluru with the cash. The accused directed him to reach a private layout near Venkatagirykote in Devanahalli taluk.

When he arrived at the location along with another person, six men who were reportedly waiting there attacked them. The gang allegedly assaulted both individuals, hitting them on the head, and forcibly took away the ₹20 lakh cash before fleeing the spot.

Left without the promised gold and having lost the entire amount he brought, Vishwaprasad Reddy approached the Devanahalli Police Station and filed a complaint.

Senior police officials, including Bengaluru Rural Superintendent of Police Chandrakant and DySP Panduranga, visited the crime scene and conducted an inspection. A special team has been formed to identify and arrest the accused, and the investigation has been intensified.
