The Bengaluru civic body sealed the iconic Mantri Mall once again after repeated tax default, leaving staff waiting outside as officials took control on Tuesday morning.
The well-known Mantri Mall in Malleswaram faced fresh trouble on Wednesday morning as civic officials sealed the entire premises over massive unpaid property tax dues. Officers from the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) arrived early, locked the mall, and deployed marshals at the entrance, where hundreds of staff were seen waiting outside.
According to officials, the mall owes ₹30 crore 81 lakh 45 thousand 600 in property tax, which has remained pending despite repeated notices issued over several months. The mall, operated by Abhishek Developers, has been cautioned multiple times but allegedly did not respond or make payment, officials said.

This is not the first time the civic body has taken such action. Mantri Mall has faced multiple closures earlier as well, each time related to long-pending tax arrears. Officials said the developer had even approached the court in the past to delay payments, but the dues remained unresolved.

GBA stated that the enforcement team acted only after the mall continued to “delay and avoid” payment despite clear instructions. Similar action has also been taken against other malls in Bengaluru that failed to clear property tax dues.
