Husband allegedly walked out after third child was also a girl; wife accuses him of desertion, financial neglect and living with another woman

A disturbing case of alleged domestic abandonment has come to light in Bengaluru, where a man is accused of deserting his wife and three young daughters after being unhappy that all his children were girls. The case has been registered at the North East Division Women’s Police Station.

The accused, identified as Harish, is a native of Rajasthan and was working as a sales executive in Bengaluru. He married Varalakshmi, a staff nurse, after being in a relationship with her. With the consent of both families, the couple entered into an arranged marriage. According to the complaint, the initial phase of their married life was stable and peaceful.

Trouble reportedly began after the couple’s children were born. Varalakshmi alleged that Harish was deeply dissatisfied that their first two children were girls. Despite this, he continued to hope that their third child would be a boy.

About one and a half months ago, Varalakshmi gave birth to their third child, who was also a girl. She stated that soon after the delivery, Harish abandoned the family, leaving her alone with a newborn infant and two other young daughters.

In her complaint, Varalakshmi has accused Harish of deserting her solely because all three children are girls. She further alleged that he is currently living with another woman, while completely cutting off financial and emotional support to his family.

The complainant said she is struggling to survive and raise the children on her own. She claimed she is unable to manage school fees for the older children, house rent, and daily expenses, and that caring for a one-and-a-half-month-old infant without support has become extremely difficult.

Varalakshmi stated that she filed the complaint at the women’s police station about a month ago, but expressed disappointment, alleging that the police have not yet summoned or traced Harish. She has voiced serious concern over the lack of immediate action, saying the delay has worsened her financial and emotional distress.
