A Bengaluru man was allegedly drugged and looted of gold and cash worth nearly ₹7 lakh by a woman he met on a dating app. Police have launched a hunt for the accused.

In a shocking case of online dating fraud, a Bengaluru-based man was allegedly drugged and robbed of gold jewellery and cash worth ₹6.89 lakh by a woman he met through the dating app Happn. The incident came to light after the victim filed a complaint with the Indiranagar Police Station.

According to police sources, the victim had met a woman who identified herself as ‘Kavipriya’ on the app around two months ago. The two had been in contact since then and decided to meet in person for the first time on November 1 at a restaurant in Indiranagar.

The two reportedly had dinner and drinks together at the restaurant before the woman suggested they continue the evening at a nearby lodge. The unsuspecting man agreed and accompanied her. Later that night, Kavipriya allegedly ordered food to the room and offered the man a glass of water, after which he lost consciousness.

When the victim regained consciousness the next morning, Kavipriya was missing, along with his valuables. The stolen items included a 28-gram gold chain, a 30-gram gold bracelet, ₹10,000 in cash, and a headset, altogether valued at approximately ₹6.89 lakh.
