Operations to begin from April 1 at KIA, with major investment in modern and electric ground support equipment

Menzies Aviation has secured a long-term licence to provide ground handling services at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), strengthening its presence at one of India’s busiest airports. The licence is valid for 15 years and will come into effect from April 1.

According to officials, the company will begin operations immediately after receiving the necessary regulatory approvals. With this move, Menzies will handle a comprehensive range of services across both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 of the airport.

Under the new arrangement, Menzies Aviation will manage passenger services, ramp operations, and baggage handling. The company will also integrate its ground handling activities with its existing cargo services at the airport, creating a unified operational setup.

Menzies Aviation is not new to KIA. The company has been associated with the Bengaluru airport for the past 15 years, during which it has provided air cargo services to several domestic and international airlines. This new licence marks a significant expansion of its role at the airport.

As part of the expansion, Menzies has announced a large-scale local recruitment drive. Around 1,000 new employees are expected to be hired over the next three years. These additions will strengthen the existing cargo workforce of approximately 1,700 employees currently employed by the company at KIA.

The company has also committed to a major financial investment to support its expanded operations. Menzies will invest more than $9.2 million, which is approximately Rs 83 crore, to modernise and standardise its ground support equipment at the airport.
