New Year countdown: Tight security, door-frame checks on MG Road and Brigade Road

Ahead of New Year celebrations, Bengaluru Police have tightened security on MG Road and Brigade Road with door-frame metal detectors, controlled entry-exit points and pedestrian barricades to manage heavy crowds and ensure safety.

With large crowds expected on New Year’s Eve, Bengaluru Police have stepped up security on MG Road and Brigade Road, installing metal detector door frames, barricades and controlled entry-exit points to ensure safe celebrations.

Brigade Road, are set to witness massive crowds on Wednesday night. Anticipating heavy footfall, the city police have gone on high alert and rolled out a series of precautionary measures to maintain law and order.

Given the expected rush, special security arrangements have been made, particularly on Brigade Road, one of the busiest stretches during New Year celebrations. Police have installed door-frame metal detectors on both sides of Brigade Road to screen everyone entering the area. Entry into the stretch will be permitted only after passing through these metal detector frames.

To further strengthen security, metal detectors have been placed at both entry and exit points of Brigade Road. This system will help authorities monitor how many people are entering the area at any given time and prevent overcrowding.

In addition, separate barricades have been set up exclusively for pedestrian movement. These barricades are aimed at regulating the flow of people, avoiding chaos, and ensuring smooth movement along the road.

Police officials said the measures are part of advance planning to prevent any untoward incidents during the celebrations. With MG Road and Brigade Road expected to be packed till midnight, security personnel will closely monitor the crowd and enforce these checks strictly.
