To support New Year festivities and ensure safe travel late into the night, metro services were extended significantly. Trains operated from 5 am on December 31 until 3:10 am on January 1, allowing partygoers and late-night commuters to return home without relying on expensive taxis or autos.

Metro officials said the extended service timing played a key role in boosting ridership, as many people preferred the metro for its affordability, convenience and safety. Additional trains were pressed into service and extra staff were deployed to manage crowds and maintain security across stations.

Passengers welcomed the initiative, saying the late-night metro helped them travel safely after celebrations. Several commuters noted that the availability of metro services helped them avoid high fares charged by cabs and autos during the New Year rush.
