With New Year celebrations approaching, the Bengaluru City Police launched a special awareness initiative titled ‘Celebrate Responsibly’, using QR codes and social media outreach to promote safety, responsibility and public cooperation during festivities.

City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, addressing the media, said senior police officers across Bengaluru are actively preparing for New Year’s Eve arrangements. He urged citizens to celebrate with caution and responsibility, stressing that public cooperation will be key to maintaining safety and order across the city.

To help people return home safely, Metro rail services will be extended, while the availability of BMTC buses, auto-rickshaws and cab services will be increased on New Year’s Eve.

Highlighting that women’s safety is a top priority, Singh said special measures have been put in place in crowded and sensitive locations. Citizens have been advised to download the Karnataka State Police (KSP) mobile app and use its SOS feature for immediate assistance when required.

The police will deploy a large number of women officers, including members of the Chennamma Squad, to strengthen security for women. In addition, a wide CCTV surveillance network will be activated, supported by advanced monitoring technology to keep a close watch on public spaces.

As part of the ‘Celebrate Responsibly’ campaign, QR codes will be displayed at key public locations. These codes will provide direct access to New Year celebration guidelines, traffic advisories, and multiple Bengaluru City Police resources. A dedicated website will also offer real-time updates on arrangements and official advisories related to New Year’s Eve.

The Bengaluru City Police have reiterated their appeal to residents to follow all guidelines, remain alert, and work with authorities to ensure a safe and smooth start to the New Year.
