Confident Group owner Dr. C.J. Roy’s brother CJ Babu alleges that Income Tax pressure from Kerala officials led to his tragic death, saying the businessman had no financial troubles.

In an exclusive statement to NewsFirst, CJ Babu, brother of Dr. C.J. Roy, owner of Confident Group, revealed that the primary reason behind Roy’s death was pressure from the Income Tax officials, particularly Additional Commissioner Krishna Prasad from Kerala. CJ Babu, who also owns WhiteGold, spoke candidly about the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

According to CJ Babu, Dr. C.J. Roy had no business issues or outstanding loans. “He was completely normal and in good spirits. We spoke on January 8, on my birthday, and he mentioned the Income Tax pressure he was facing,” CJ Babu stated. He explained that Roy had been in regular communication with him, and even on the day of the incident, he had called at 11 a.m., appearing completely normal, and had arranged to meet him the next day. “I really don’t know what happened,” CJ Babu said.

CJ Babu detailed the timeline of Income Tax actions. “The IT officials visited on December 3 and 6 previously, and documents were submitted even during those raids. They returned again today. Roy had information that they would visit on December 28 and was waiting for them. The Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, Kerala, Krishna Prasad, is a particular concern,” he added.

The businessman owned a licensed firearm for over 20 years, which was used in the suicide. “This shouldn’t have happened,” CJ Babu remarked, emphasizing that the sole pressure Roy faced was from the Income Tax officials. “He never spoke about any other problems. His family will be coming around 3 a.m. to handle the matters,” he added.

CJ Babu made it clear that the incident was not related to financial stress, loans, or business complications. “He had no problems in business. The documents were already submitted during previous visits. If Income Tax officers exert so much pressure, it becomes very difficult to conduct normal business,” he said.

CJ Babu, also stated that in this country, the income tax takes 6 percent- 4 percent from salaried individuals and 2 percent from businesses. He added that such strict pressure drives anyone to extreme actions. Being a real estate entrepreneur, C.J. Roy had even purchased a licensed gun.

Babu also mentioned that on the 22nd, IT officials visited his own home and requested documents, all of which he provided. He clarified that his WhiteGold business was fully transparent, with all records submitted to the authorities.

This statement sheds light on the immense pressure faced by high-profile businessmen during regulatory scrutiny. CJ Babu stressed that the officials involved must be questioned to understand the circumstances fully, holding the Income Tax authorities responsible for the tragic turn of events.

The statement comes as the business community and family mourn the loss of a prominent entrepreneur known for his business acumen and philanthropic initiatives. Dr. C.J. Roy’s death has triggered a conversation about the stress and impact of regulatory pressures on individuals in corporate leadership positions.
