After a spate of fatal night outing accidents, city traffic police roll out a special drive targeting underage drivers, reckless riding, and illegal stunts.
In response to a sharp rise in fatal accidents linked to late-night outings, the Bengaluru Traffic Police have launched a citywide special enforcement drive starting tonight. The move follows the death of over 13 people in the last three days on the city’s outskirts, raising serious concerns about reckless riding and underage driving.
Seven people were killed in a major accident near Hoskote, while five others lost their lives in another tragic crash near Nelamangala. These back-to-back incidents have triggered urgent action from the police to prevent further loss of life.
Under the special drive, traffic personnel will intensively monitor night movement across the city, focusing on minors riding two-wheelers and cars, as well as individuals performing dangerous stunts such as wheeling. Police teams will actively identify offenders and take strict legal action.

As part of the crackdown, those caught wheeling will face immediate legal cases, seizure of vehicles, and further penalties. Importantly, parents who allow their underage children to drive vehicles without a valid driving licence will also be booked under relevant sections of the law.
Providing details, Karthik Reddy, Joint Commissioner of Traffic, Bengaluru, said the department has already registered 646 wheeling cases over the past one year. Among these, FIRs have been filed against the parents of 159 minors who were found riding vehicles illegally.
He warned that any guardian found giving vehicles to children without valid driving licences will face legal consequences. The aim of the special drive is to deter risky behaviour, reduce nighttime accidents, and ensure road safety, especially in high-risk zones.
Police will increase night patrols, conduct intensive checks at key junctions, and closely monitor highways and city outskirts where such incidents are frequent. Officials have appealed to parents to take responsibility and prevent minors from riding vehicles, stressing that strict enforcement will continue without exception.
