A schoolgirl’s routine walk home turned fatal after a BMTC bus ran over her at Rajajinagar 1st Block signal, leaving her family shattered and the city in shock.

A heartbreaking accident in Bengaluru’s Rajajinagar has shaken the city. Nine-year-old Bhuvana, a student of Panchajanya School, lost her life when a BMTC bus ran over her at the Rajajinagar 1st Block signal. The tragedy unfolded soon after school hours when the child stopped by a bakery to buy biscuits and began crossing the road. In seconds, a BMTC bus allegedly speeding through the signal knocked her down.

Witnesses say the bus driver fled the spot immediately after the accident. Locals rushed to help, but Bhuvana had already succumbed to her injuries.
Bhuvana’s parents, who make a living selling kebabs, were inconsolable as their only daughter’s body was taken home. The little girl had been raised by her grandmother, who sells corn for a living. Their quiet lives have now been shattered forever.

Residents and activists have slammed BMTC for negligence and called on the Transport Department to make eye tests mandatory for all bus drivers. Many say this tragedy could have been avoided with stricter safety checks and responsible driving.
