Over 50 beneficiaries protest outside Karnataka Housing Board, accusing Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation officials of breaking promises and delaying house allotment despite full payment.
Bengaluru witnessed strong protests on Monday as more than 50 beneficiaries of the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Scheme staged a demonstration in front of the Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) office, accusing authorities of repeatedly delaying house allotments despite collecting money years ago.
The protesters alleged that the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation had assured them that houses would be handed over by January 31, after completing all formalities including subsidy approvals and mahazars. However, even after the promised deadline passed, beneficiaries claim there was no response from officials.
Applicants gathered outside the housing board office carrying payment receipts, application documents, and loan records, demanding immediate allotment and registration of houses. Protesters raised slogans stating they would not leave the premises until house keys were handed over.

Many beneficiaries said they had taken loans and have been paying interest for nearly ten months, while continuing to live in rented houses. Several claimed landlords are now pressuring them to vacate, worsening their situation.
Women beneficiaries were seen breaking down during the protest, saying they had come leaving behind children and even postnatal responsibilities. Some alleged that despite completing payments three to four years ago, houses are yet to be allotted, pushing families into financial and emotional distress.
The protesters accused officials of harassing applicants and alleged that delays were linked to bribe demands. They claimed that every time they protested earlier, officials gave new deadlines but failed to keep their word. Angry residents demanded action against officials, including suspension of those responsible.

According to the protesters, GBA Welfare Assistant Commissioner Muralidhar had personally assured them of allotment, but has now gone back on that promise. This led to heightened anger against the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation management and GBA officials.
Beneficiaries made it clear that they would not leave the protest site until houses are registered in their names and keys are handed over, stating that they have already paid the required amount and completed all procedures
