GBA completes the long-pending white-topping project on Panathur Main Road; Bengaluru Traffic Police announces reopening after weeks of heavy congestion.
The long-awaited reopening of Panathur Main Road is set for Monday, November 17, after the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) completed white-topping works along the busy stretch. The Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP), HAL Airport Division, confirmed the development through an advisory issued on platform X, announcing that the road will be open to the public from early Monday.

The stretch had remained shut for several days due to ongoing construction, which triggered heavy congestion on alternative routes including Varthur–Marathahalli Road, Vibgyor Road, and interior lanes connecting to the Outer Ring Road (ORR). Commuters struggled with long delays, especially during peak hours, as traffic was funnelled into narrow and already busy neighbourhood streets.
According to the advisory, the reopening is expected to significantly ease bottlenecks on the ORR corridor and surrounding roads that depend heavily on Panathur Main Road for daily movement.
Ahead of the reopening, motorists traveling from Ibblur towards Silk Board Junction were advised to use alternate routes due to ongoing traffic pressure in the area. Suggested options included taking the 14th Main Road flyover and continuing towards the 5th Main Road Junction, or opting for internal HSR Layout roads to reach Silk Board and Hosur Main Road.
The resumption of traffic on Panathur Main Road is anticipated to reduce stress across the corridor and improve overall travel time for residents and office commuters in the Varthur–Marathahalli–ORR belt.
