Bengaluru witnessed a significant review of India’s defence manufacturing progress as the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence inspected key facilities of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) on Friday. The ten-member delegation, headed by Chairman and Member of Parliament Radha Mohan Singh, visited HAL’s Helicopter Division, LCA Tejas Division and Aircraft Division to assess ongoing programmes and production activities.
The committee was given an overview of the company’s ongoing modernisation initiatives and updates on critical indigenous projects that are central to India’s drive for self-reliance in defence manufacturing. HAL highlighted its advancements in aircraft design, development, and production, particularly in areas enhancing the combat readiness of the armed forces.
HAL flying display
As part of the visit, the public sector enterprise organised a flying display featuring a diverse range of platforms. The demonstration included the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Mk 1A, the Hindustan Turbo Trainer 40, the advanced Hindustan Jet Trainer ‘Yashas,’ and the upgraded Hawk-i aircraft. Aerobatic sequences carried out during the display reflected the operational capabilities and engineering expertise achieved by the organisation.
The visit underlined the committee’s focus on reviewing indigenous defence production and assessing how modernisation efforts align with national security priorities. HAL’s presentation reaffirmed its role in strengthening India’s defence ecosystem through innovation and technology-driven initiatives.
