Petrol attack after lovers’ fight in Bengaluru: Man sets girlfriend and her parents on fire, three critical

A dispute over a bike and a strained relationship ended in a shocking petrol attack in Tarabanahalli. The accused, already married with children, allegedly set his girlfriend and her parents on fire after an argument. Police have arrested him.

A shocking incident has come to light from Tarabanahalli in Bengaluru, where a man allegedly poured petrol and set his girlfriend and her parents on fire following a quarrel over a minor issue.

According to police, the accused has been identified as Pandu alias Chandu. He has been taken into custody after the incident. The attack left three people seriously injured, and they are currently undergoing treatment at Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru.

Investigations reveal that the accused and the woman, Sumalatha, first became acquainted through Instagram. Their friendship gradually developed into a relationship, and they had reportedly been in contact and in love for about six years.

However, both of them were already married. Sumalatha is married and has two sons, while the accused Pandu also got married about four years ago and has children of his own.

Police said the accused knew Sumalatha even before her marriage, and the relationship reportedly continued even after both got married.

Despite being married, the two were still meeting each other frequently. During this period, the accused allegedly maintained another illegal relationship as well and had even kept another woman in his house.

When Sumalatha questioned him about this relationship, tensions reportedly increased between the two.

Police said the immediate trigger for the violence was a dispute related to a bike. The accused had come to Sumalatha’s house to ask for the bike. However, Sumalatha and her family members refused to give it.

This led to a heated argument outside the house in Tarabanahalli.

During the argument, the situation turned violent. In a shocking act, the accused allegedly poured petrol on Sumalatha’s mother Manjamma and set her on fire.

He also reportedly poured petrol on Sumalatha and her father Sriram, causing severe burn injuries to all three.

Following the attack, the injured family members were first admitted to a local hospital. Due to the seriousness of their injuries, they were later shifted to Victoria Hospital for advanced treatment.

Among the victims, Manjamma, Sumalatha’s mother, is said to be in critical condition.

Police quickly launched an investigation after the incident and arrested the accused Pandu alias Chandu. Further investigation is currently underway to determine all the circumstances that led to the violent attack.
