Pink Line Metro coaches arrive at Kothanur Depot as work gathers pace ahead of 2026 launch

Metro coaches supplied by BEML arrived at Kothanur Depot early morning, marking another key milestone for the 21.25-km Pink Line connecting Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara.

Bengaluru’s much-awaited Pink Line Metro project has crossed another important milestone with the arrival of new metro train coaches at the Kothanur Depot. The coaches reached the depot early in the morning at around 5 am, having been supplied by BEML.

Officials said the arrival of these coaches is a significant step forward in preparing the Pink Line for operations. Earlier, the first driverless metro train for the Pink Line had already been unveiled, highlighting the advanced technology planned for the corridor.

The Pink Line is designed to connect Kalena Agrahara in south Bengaluru to Nagawara in the north, covering a total distance of approximately 21.25 kilometres. Once operational, the line is expected to play a major role in improving north–south connectivity across the city and easing traffic congestion on busy roads.

The newly arrived coaches will undergo necessary inspections, testing and integration at the Kothanur Depot before being deployed for trial runs on the corridor. Metro officials indicated that preparatory works are progressing steadily across the route.

As per current projections, the Pink Line is expected to begin operations by June 2026. With the arrival of rolling stock and earlier unveiling of driverless trains, the project has entered a crucial phase ahead of commissioning.
