Motorists travelling on the busy BEL Circle road in Bengaluru faced repeated tyre punctures after thousands of sharp nails were found scattered across the stretch connecting Hebbal and Goraguntepalya, raising serious safety concerns.
Fears of a puncture mafia resurfacing in Bengaluru have returned after shocking visuals emerged from the busy BEL Circle road, where thousands of nails were found strewn across the carriageway, causing repeated tyre punctures and severe inconvenience to commuters.
The incident was reported on the BEL Road, a key arterial stretch connecting Hebbal to Goraguntepalya. This road is used daily by thousands of two-wheeler riders, car users, and commercial vehicles. Commuters alleged that driving on this stretch almost guarantees a puncture, with sharp nails visible at every step on the road surface.

Motorists reported that nails were spread in large numbers, not a few dozen, but reportedly running into the thousands, making it nearly impossible to avoid tyre damage. Several riders were forced to push their vehicles for long distances after suffering sudden punctures, as repair shops were not immediately accessible.

Angry commuters questioned whether this was a deliberate act by miscreants and suspected the involvement of puncture repair shop operators trying to make money by creating artificial demand. Many demanded immediate action and strict measures to prevent such dangerous practices.
Videos showing the nails scattered across the BEL Circle road went viral on social media platform X, drawing widespread outrage. Following the viral videos, a NewsFirst team visited the spot to conduct a reality check and confirmed the presence of nails on the road, validating the concerns raised by road users.
