Transport and Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy confirms May timeline for Greater Bengaluru Authority elections, citing Supreme Court orders.

The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) elections will be held in May, following a firm directive from the Supreme Court, which has instructed the Karnataka government to complete the election process no later than June 30. Transport and Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy confirmed the timeline, stating that the government is fully prepared to comply with the court’s order.

Addressing the media, the minister said the Supreme Court has clearly directed the state government to conduct the GBA elections within the stipulated deadline of June 30, leaving no scope for delay. In line with this instruction, the government has decided to schedule the elections in May to ensure smooth execution of the entire electoral process.

For months, the absence of elected representatives under the newly formed Greater Bengaluru Authority had raised concerns over administrative accountability and democratic governance in the city. The Supreme Court intervention has now brought clarity, ensuring that Bengaluru residents will soon get an elected civic body.
