RCB won their second WPL title, beating Delhi Capitals by six wickets in the 2026 final. Smriti Mandhana and Georgia Woll starred with a 165-run stand
The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 final turned into a night of celebration for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as they lifted the trophy for the second time, defeating Delhi Capitals by six wickets in a high-scoring thriller. The victory was powered by captain Smriti Mandhana and Georgia Woll, whose record-breaking partnership of 165 runs dismantled Delhi’s hopes and sealed RCB’s place as champions once again.
Delhi Capitals, led by Jemimah Rodrigues, entered the final determined to end their streak of heartbreaks, but the evening unfolded in familiar fashion. After losing the toss, Delhi batted first and posted a formidable total of 203 runs. Lizelle Lee provided a solid start, while Rodrigues showcased her class with a fluent 57 off 37 balls. Laura Wolvaardt and Chinelle Henry added fireworks in the middle order, with Wolvaardt smashing 44 off 25 and Henry remaining unbeaten on 35 from just 15 deliveries. Their aggressive batting lifted Delhi to a commanding score, giving them hope of finally clinching the elusive title.
Chasing 204, RCB faced early pressure when Grace Harris fell cheaply for 9. The Delhi bowlers looked to capitalize, but Mandhana and Woll turned the tide with a masterclass in batting. Their partnership not only steadied the innings but also kept the scoreboard ticking at a brisk pace. Woll’s 79 and Mandhana’s captain’s knock of 87 left Delhi’s bowlers searching for answers. Even though Richa Ghosh’s dismissal for 6 briefly raised Delhi’s hopes, Nadine de Klerk and Radha Yadav calmly guided RCB across the finish line.
As the winning run was struck, RCB’s players stormed the field in jubilation, celebrating their second WPL crown. For Delhi, however, it was heartbreak yet again—their fourth consecutive final defeat, a bitter pill for Rodrigues and her team, who were undone by their bowling unit’s inability to contain RCB’s batting brilliance.
The triumph marked a significant moment for RCB, reinforcing their dominance in the league and highlighting the leadership of Smriti Mandhana. For Delhi, the wait for their first WPL title continues, as questions loom over their ability to overcome the psychological barrier of repeated final losses
