The construction activity, which is part of the ongoing metro project in the area, has raised alarm among the public as basic safety precautions appear to be missing.
According to observations at the site, a large sheet-like iron structure used in the construction of metro pillars was being lifted using a crane. What worried commuters was the fact that the material was hanging directly above the heads of motorists using the road.

Even a small mistake or slip during such lifting operations could lead to serious injury or even loss of life if the iron structure falls on the vehicles moving below.
The risky construction activity was spotted on the flyover stretch connecting Veeranapalya and Hebbal, a busy route that witnesses continuous movement of vehicles throughout the day.

Despite the heavy traffic in the area, the lifting work continued while vehicles were still passing underneath, increasing the risk for two-wheeler riders, car drivers and other commuters.

At the site, workers had placed drums along the roadside in an attempt to divert vehicles slightly away from the construction area. However, these arrangements were seen as insufficient.
