White topping work and route diversions leave commuters and traffic police struggling daily

Traffic congestion in Bengaluru is intensifying with each passing day, leaving commuters increasingly frustrated. Fresh allegations have surfaced against the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) over road works that are being dug up in one area while unfinished stretches elsewhere remain untarred, worsening traffic flow across the city.

The situation is particularly severe in North and West Bengaluru, affecting commuters travelling through Goraguntepalya, Govardhan Road, Orion Mall junction, ISKCON Temple stretch, Mahalaxmi Layout and Rajajinagar. According to officials and ground reports, motorists using these routes will have to endure severe traffic congestion for at least the next two months.

The main reason behind the disruption is the white-topping work on another stretch of Dr. Rajkumar Road. This ongoing construction has forced authorities to divert traffic, creating a ripple effect across nearby roads. Vehicles entering the city via the Tumakuru Highway are being rerouted, further adding pressure to already crowded junctions.

As a result, commuters are witnessing kilometre-long vehicle queues starting early in the morning, especially during peak office hours. Traffic movement has slowed to a crawl, with frequent bottlenecks reported near major junctions and commercial hubs.

Motorists have expressed frustration over the lack of coordination between road excavation and resurfacing works. Many allege that roads are being dug repeatedly without timely completion, making daily travel exhausting and unpredictable.

While commuters struggle to navigate the chaos, traffic police personnel are also under immense pressure, working continuously to manage the heavy traffic flow. Officials admit that regulating movement has become extremely challenging due to multiple diversions and reduced road space.

With no immediate relief in sight, commuters using these stretches are advised to plan their travel carefully, as the next two months are expected to remain particularly difficult.
