With 2,000 women-exclusive autos now operational, Bengaluru launches a dedicated transport service to ensure safer, reliable, and comfortable travel for women across the city.
Bengaluru has taken a major step towards enhancing women’s safety in public transport with the launch of the exclusive ‘Sakhi Auto’ service. Designed solely for women passengers, the new initiative aims to provide secure, comfortable, and reliable mobility across the city, addressing long-standing safety concerns and daily travel challenges.
Currently, around 2,000 Sakhi Autos have begun operating on Bengaluru’s roads. The service is available from 6 am to 12 midnight, ensuring dependable transport during peak travel hours. Officials have stated that the long-term plan is to extend the service round-the-clock, offering 24/7 availability in the coming days.
The key focus of the initiative is to create a safe and stress-free travel experience for women, particularly those who commute daily for work, education, and essential activities. The service is expected to benefit students, working professionals, and women who often face difficulties in securing safe transportation, especially during late hours.
