Indian Railways introduces a special express service between SMVT Bengaluru and Vijayapura during Shivaratri to manage additional passenger demand.
To manage the expected surge in passenger traffic during the Shivaratri festival, Indian Railways has announced a special train service between Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) Bengaluru and Vijayapura. The move aims to provide relief to passengers and ensure smoother travel during the festive period.
The SMVT Bengaluru - Vijayapura Express Special (Train No. 06503) will depart from SMVT Bengaluru at 7:15 pm on Friday, February 13, 2026, and reach Vijayapura at 7:15 am the following morning. This overnight service is planned to cater to devotees and travelers heading towards key religious destinations during Shivaratri.
For the return journey, the Vijayapura - SMVT Bengaluru Express Special (Train No. 06504) will leave Vijayapura at 5:30 pm on Monday, February 16, 2026, and arrive at SMVT Bengaluru at 6:30 am the next day.
En route, both special trains will halt at several important stations to benefit passengers across Karnataka. The scheduled stops include Chikkabanavara, Tumakuru, Arsikere, Birur, Davangere, Harihar, SMM Haveri, Badami, Bagalkote, and Almatti.
The special train will operate with a total of 22 coaches, offering a mix of travel classes to accommodate different passenger needs. The rake composition includes 2 AC 2-Tier coaches, 3 AC 3-Tier coaches, 11 Sleeper Class coaches, 4 General Second Class coaches, and 2 SLRD coaches.
