FIR filed against Chinmay Mission Hospital management and nurse after baby admitted for fever loses half of little finger during drip removal
In a disturbing case of alleged medical negligence, a six-month-old infant suffered partial amputation of a finger while undergoing treatment at Chinmay Mission Hospital. The incident occurred during the removal of medical dressing, leading to half of the baby’s little finger being accidentally cut, triggering widespread outrage and police action.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) registered at Indiranagar Police Station, the child was admitted to the hospital on February 19, 2026, after developing fever and cough. The infant remained under continuous treatment from February 19 to February 24, during which intravenous drips were administered.

On February 24, while the parents were making the final payment at the billing counter, a nurse identified as Anita reportedly attempted to remove the dressing and drip line from the baby’s left hand. During this process, she allegedly used sharp equipment carelessly, resulting in the partial cutting of the infant’s left-hand little finger.
The baby reportedly cried in severe pain and was immediately shifted to the hospital’s emergency care unit for urgent treatment. Doctors later confirmed that nearly half of the finger had been severed, intensifying concerns over medical safety and staff training.
Following the incident, the child’s parents lodged a formal complaint, accusing the hospital management and the nurse of gross negligence. Based on the complaint, Indiranagar police registered an FIR against nurse Anita and the hospital administration, and an investigation has been initiated.
