South Western Railway extends special trains on Bengaluru–Thiruvananthapuram route until December

The SMVT Bengaluru–Thiruvananthapuram North Weekly Express (06555), which was earlier scheduled to run only until October 3, will now continue its services until December 26.

To cater to the festive travel rush and provide additional convenience for passengers, particularly those heading to Kerala, South Western Railway has announced the extension of three weekly special train services operating between Bengaluru and Thiruvananthapuram.

The SMVT Bengaluru–Thiruvananthapuram North Weekly Express (06555), which was earlier scheduled to run only until October 3, will now continue its services until December 26. Its return counterpart, Train No. 06556, originally slated to end on September 28, will also remain in operation until December 28.

Another service, the SMVT Bengaluru–Thiruvananthapuram North Weekly Express (06523), has also been granted an extension. Initially planned to conclude on September 15, it will now operate until December 29. The return journey, Train No. 06524, will be available until December 30.

Similarly, the SMVT Bengaluru–Thiruvananthapuram North Weekly Express Special (06547), which was to terminate operations on September 3, has been extended through December 24. Its return service (06548), earlier scheduled to stop on September 4, will now run until December 25.

No changes in the timings, halts

Officials have clarified that there will be no changes in the timings, halts, or other operational details of these extended services. The decision aims to manage the high passenger demand during the festival season, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity between the Karnataka capital and Kerala’s state capital.

The extensions are expected to significantly ease travel for Malayali passengers residing in Bengaluru and surrounding areas.
