Doctors skip duty, demand basic facilities and immediate action from Bangalore Medical College administration
Medical students and part-time doctors staged a protest inside the Victoria Hospital campus in Bengaluru, raising strong objections to the delay in stipend payments and the poor availability of basic facilities.
The protest was led by part-time doctors working at the hospital, who were joined by medical students. The demonstrators accused the Bangalore Medical College administration of failing to address their long-standing concerns, despite repeated representations.
According to the protesting doctors, the lack of timely stipends has caused financial stress, while inadequate basic infrastructure has affected both their work conditions and patient care. They demanded that the administration immediately step in to provide essential facilities required for smooth hospital functioning.

As a mark of protest, the doctors and students refused to report for duty, stating that they would continue their agitation until their demands are met. The protest remained confined to the hospital premises, with participants holding placards and raising slogans against the college management.
The agitators made it clear that their demands were not new and that they had been seeking solutions for a long time. They urged the authorities to take the issue seriously and ensure that medical professionals are provided with minimum support to carry out their responsibilities effectively.
