CCTV from Ajjagondanahalli, Hoskote shows alleged stray dog torture during capture. Video went viral; Anugondanahalli police filed a case
A case has been registered after a CCTV clip allegedly showing cruelty during the capture of a stray dog surfaced from SRR Layout in Ajjagondanahalli village, Hoskote taluk, Bengaluru Rural district.
According to local residents and animal welfare volunteers, the incident took place when a group of staff arrived in the area to catch stray dogs. In the footage, one of the men is seen allegedly grabbing the dog from behind by its legs and violently twisting it, triggering a commotion on the street. The visuals, captured on a local CCTV camera, later went viral on social media, drawing sharp criticism from residents and animal lovers.
Sources said the incident is believed to have occurred around 10 days ago, but came to public attention only after the video began circulating widely. Following complaints, police registered a case at the Anugondanahalli police station and have begun looking into the identities of those involved, including the team that had come for dog-catching operations in the locality.

Animal welfare groups said such methods cause severe pain and trauma to animals, and demanded strict action against anyone found guilty of torture or mutilation. Rahul, an animal lover who has been raising the issue, said this may not be an isolated case and alleged that similar cruelty is sometimes used during stray dog capture drives.
Residents have urged authorities to ensure humane handling practices, proper training and monitoring of dog-catching teams, and accountability mechanisms to prevent repeat incidents. Police said further action will follow based on verification of the video and witness statements.
