The Greater Bengaluru Authority plans a structured ‘Pay & Park’ system across 35 major roads, with fixed hourly, daily, monthly and annual parking charges for two-wheelers and cars.
Parking a vehicle on some of Bengaluru’s busiest and most prominent roads will now come at a price. The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) is preparing to roll out a comprehensive Pay & Park system across the city’s central areas, aiming to regulate roadside parking, reduce congestion and boost civic revenue.
Under the proposed system, parking will be chargeable on 35 key roads located in the heart of the city, including Church Street, Brigade Road, Museum Road and BVK Iyengar Road. Once implemented, unauthorised parking anywhere on these stretches will attract penalties and vehicles may even be seized.
Parking Charges Fixed
As per the plan, parking rates have been clearly defined:
• Hourly charges: ₹15 for two-wheelers and ₹30 for cars
• Full-day parking: ₹75 for bikes and ₹150 for cars
• Monthly passes: ₹1,500 for two-wheelers and ₹3,000 for cars
With this system, the civic body expects to collect nearly ₹16 crore annually. GBA officials say the move is part of a broader effort to bring discipline to on-road parking and ensure smoother traffic movement in commercial zones.
What Is ‘Pay & Park’?
The Pay & Park initiative will cover around 23.33 kilometres of road length. For implementation, tenders have been invited in 11 packages, covering parking spaces for both two-wheelers and cars across the 35 identified roads.
The contract period is three years, with a provision to extend it by another two years if required. Contractors awarded the tender will be required to pay a fixed annual amount to the central city municipal body. The system also empowers authorities to impose fines on vehicles parked illegally or outside designated zones.

List of Roads Under On-Road Parking Plan
The Pay & Park system will be enforced on several prominent stretches, including:
• Dattatreya Temple Ward 2nd Temple Road
• Sampige Road, Railway Parallel Road, BVK Iyengar Road
• Ibrahim Saheb Street, Commercial Street to OPH Road
• Main Guard Road (Safina Plaza to Dispensary Road), Dickenson Road
• Mavalli Tank Bund Road
• DVG Road (Sunkenahalli Ward), Shankar Mutt Road, PMK Road
• Millers Road Junction, Planetarium Road
• St John’s Church Road, St John’s Road
• Vani Vilas Road, Vasavi Temple Street
• Kanakapura Road, Diagonal Road, Pattalamman Road
• T. Mariappa Road, Cambridge Road, Wood Street, Castle Street
• Magrath Road, Church Street, Museum Road, Crescent Road
• Brigade Road, Langford Road, Ejipura Road
• 100 Feet Road and 80 Feet Road in Indiranagar
Officials say these roads were chosen due to high traffic density, commercial activity and frequent parking violations.
What This Means for Motorists
Once the system is active, free parking will no longer be allowed on these roads. Motorists will have to pay the prescribed fee, failing which they may face fines or vehicle seizure. The GBA believes this will discourage random parking and make road usage more organised.
