Upset over tuition, 13-year-old takes 9-year-old brother across Karnataka using Aadhaar

Two siblings from Marathahalli went missing after leaving home following a scolding over tuition. After travelling across districts using free travel, they were traced in Chitradurga and reunited with parents.

A 13-year-old girl and her 9-year-old brother, who left home after being scolded over tuition, were traced in Chitradurga and reunited with their parents by HAL police.

In a worrying incident that ended on a safe note, two siblings from Ashwathnagar in Marathahalli, Bengaluru, who went missing after leaving home, were successfully traced and reunited with their parents by the police.

The children, a 13-year-old girl and her 9-year-old brother, Left their house at around 3 pm on the 1st of the month. According to the family, the parents had scolded the children for refusing to attend tuition classes. Upset by this, the siblings decided to leave home without informing anyone.

Investigations revealed that the elder sister carried her Aadhaar card, which allowed her to avail free travel facilities, while her younger brother travelled without a ticket. Using public transport, the children moved across multiple districts in the state, including Shivamogga, before finally reaching the Chitradurga region.

As the children did not return home, the parents lodged a missing complaint at the HAL Police Station. Acting swiftly, HAL police alerted stations across Bengaluru and other parts of Karnataka. The police also circulated the children’s details and photographs on social media platforms to widen the search.

The breakthrough came when members of the public in Chitradurga, who had seen the circulated photos, informed the police about the children’s presence. Based on this tip-off, the police traced the siblings, brought them safely back to HAL Police Station, and handed them over to their relieved parents.
