Commuters using Varthur Main Road will face major traffic restrictions for a month as the Bengaluru Traffic Police have announced a complete ban on vehicular movement on a key stretch due to ongoing pipeline work.

According to a traffic advisory issued by the Traffic East Division, the restriction has been imposed in view of pipeline-related work being carried out by the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB). The affected stretch falls under the limits of the J.B. Nagar Traffic Police Station on Varthur Main Road.

All types of vehicles will be prohibited from using this road from February 6, 2026, to March 6, 2026. The restriction is aimed at ensuring safety and smooth execution of the infrastructure work, while also managing traffic flow in the surrounding areas.

As part of the traffic regulation, movement from Old Madras Road’s Big Bazaar Junction towards Kaggadasapura via Varthur Main Road has been temporarily restricted. This includes the stretch between Old Madras Road Big Bazaar Junction and Vishnuvardhan Circle on Nagavarapalya Road.

To minimise inconvenience to the public, the traffic police have suggested alternative routes. Vehicles heading from Old Madras Road Big Bazaar Junction towards Kaggadasapura are advised to take the following diversion: Old Madras Road Big Bazaar Junction to Benniganahalli Junction, take a U-turn at Pai Layout, then proceed with a left turn at Nagavarapalya Main Road Junction near the Bata showroom, continue on Nagavarapalya Main Road, pass through Vishnuvardhan Circle at Nagavarapalya, and reach Kaggadasapura.
