Following multiple public complaints and major discrepancies in ward mapping and polling booth data, the State Election Commission has revised the schedule for the final voter list ahead of the GBA elections.
In the backdrop of the upcoming GBA elections, the State Election Commission has extended the deadline for preparing the ward-wise final voter list. The revised schedule now sets April 6, 2026, as the official date for the publication of the final electoral roll.
Earlier, the draft voter list was published on January 19, and the final list was initially scheduled for release on March 15. However, following concerns raised by the public, the date was first postponed to March 30. Now, after reviewing several serious complaints and technical issues, the commission has once again extended the timeline, confirming April 6 as the final publication date.
According to officials, the extension was necessary due to widespread errors found in the voter database. In several areas, voters residing in one ward were wrongly assigned to another ward. Additionally, incorrect polling booth details were published in multiple localities, creating confusion among voters and election officials.

To address these issues, the commission has outlined a detailed correction and verification process. From February 26 to March 1, the printing agency will generate updated electronic voter rolls using the “From-To Matrix” system. Between March 2 and March 8, revised draft ward-wise voter lists will be printed. These corrected draft lists will be officially released on March 9.
The public will be given time from March 10 to March 16 to submit objections and complaints regarding any discrepancies. Necessary corrections based on these submissions will be incorporated into the database between March 17 and March 18. Further technical verification and updates in the software system will be carried out from March 20 to March 22.
Once the corrections are finalised, the printing agency will generate the final electronic voter roll between March 23 and March 27. The physical printing of ward-wise final voter lists will take place from March 28 to April 4. After completing all verification and printing processes, the State Election Commission will officially release the final voter list on April 6, 2026.
