Confident Group owner CJ Roy dies by suicide in Bengaluru office; police seize the pistol and investigate CCTV, documents, and digital devices following the incident.
A tragic incident shook Bengaluru as Confident Group owner CJ Roy died by suicide inside his office near Richmond Circle. Reports indicate that Roy shot himself in his chamber during the ongoing Income Tax raids, which had added immense pressure on him.
Police immediately seized the pistol used by CJ Roy and began a detailed investigation. Officials reviewed the office CCTV cameras, including footage of the moment the firearm was discharged. His office was thoroughly inspected for any death notes, messages, or written material that could explain the act.
Authorities also examined his mobile phone, checking calls, notes, and social media accounts including WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to rule out external influences or communications. The investigation is being led personally by Deputy Commissioner of Police Akshay, with support from the local SOCO team present at the scene.

CJ Roy’s death reportedly occurred during ongoing Income Tax inspections at the Confident Group office in Richmond Circle. Earlier raids had involved the seizure of multiple bags of documents, transported in two Innova cars. Fresh raids were underway when the incident occurred, reportedly intensifying the pressure on the businessman.
While Income Tax officials were examining documents inside his office, Roy allegedly fired the pistol at himself, after which he was immediately shifted to a hospital by the officials present. Despite medical intervention, he could not be saved.
Police have now halted the Income Tax operation and are focusing entirely on reconstructing the sequence of events leading to Roy’s death. All evidence, including the seized pistol, CCTV footage, documents, and mobile data, is under meticulous review to determine the exact circumstances.
