In a significant step toward improving Bengaluru’s traffic woes, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has shared key updates on the much-anticipated tunnel road project connecting Hebbal to Silk Board. Aimed at transforming daily commutes and easing congestion, the tunnel will offer a faster, uninterrupted travel experience across a busy corridor known for its traffic snarls.

The proposed tunnel road spans 16.75 kilometres and is designed to be signal-free, allowing vehicles to move without halts. This ambitious infrastructure will bypass more than 25 traffic bottlenecks, significantly cutting down travel time. According to Shivakumar, commuters can expect to save over 45 minutes each day once the tunnel becomes operational.

He emphasized that the construction is being planned with citizens in mind, especially keeping in view the value of their time and the need for smooth and efficient transportation. The tunnel road will also provide direct access to the city’s IT corridor, further boosting connectivity for tech employees and reducing the stress of daily commuting.

The Deputy Chief Minister took to social media to affirm the government’s commitment, tweeting that "Bengaluru is on the path to becoming a fast and smart city." This project is seen as a vital part of the broader urban mobility vision for the city.
